Job description
Be part of an unique growth story!
Join us to help build the leading advanced composites automation and digital manufacturing company. Airborne is a technology leader in advanced composites, specialised in the industrialisation of engineering and manufacturing of durable fibre reinforced composites for Space, Aeronautics, Transport and Marine industries. Via Airborne’s unique combination of skills: our deep and wide composites, software engineering and mechatronics know-how – we enable our customers to unlock their full potential in digital manufacturing growth and create a competitive advantage. We are agile, flexible and think like a start-up. This nimble approach is challenging for many incumbent companies—but it’s at the heart of how we think to build winning positions by developing integrated, automated and connected manufacturing solutions for the composite industry.
Together we are a dynamic group of 135 highly educated and passionate employees, split between our headquarter in The Hague Ypenburg (NL) and our site in Lambourn (UK).
Airborne Composites Automation (ACA), is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer. At ACA we develop end-to-end automation and digitalization solutions for composites parts manufacturing. We are developing a suite of standard automated systems (products) focused on production lines. We also design bespoke solutions for specific customer needs, specially for process development and R&D.
What is your new job?
Being one of our Systems Engineers, you work within multidisciplinary project teams and external partners to solve some of the most complex challenges in composite manufacturing. You will be leading trade-offs, creating the overall system concept, setting up requirements and user stories and steer the product development based on a pre-established roadmap. During detailed design you’ll be managing the interfaces in order to preserve the overall architecture. In the implementation phase, you’ll coordinate to align on prioritization, testing, ensure quality and compliance. Finally, during commissioning, you’ll oversee system verification to guarantee complete deliverables.
In the multi-disciplinary projects, you support the team as a true architect, linking the various disciplines to realize the best value for our clients in automated manufacturing, while adhering to, contributing to and enforcing our engineering processes. Furthermore, you use your technical knowledge and experience to support business development and project managers in client relations.
What are your responsibilities?
- Definition of project requirements. Including interpretation and (technical) translation of client requirements.
- (Conceptual and preliminary) System design of robotic manufacturing cells. Including equipment layout, software architecture and user stories.
- Defining and writing specifications to outsource complex equipment to partners.
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to align on technical requirements.
- Lead the definition of system verification up to FAT and SAT with client.
- Support client tenders in the preparation and/or review of technical proposals, schedule, cost calculations and risk assessments.
- Support project execution from design through commissioning and final delivery.
- Mentor other engineers and provide technical direction across multidisciplinary teams.
Reporting Lines and Interactions
You will report to the Systems Engineering team lead. You will work together with colleagues from the commercial department, procurement, engineering department and production, ACA’s partners, suppliers, and customers.
