Who is Airborne?
Airborne Composites Automation is a cutting-edge tech company specializing in advanced automation solutions for composite materials, serving industries like Aerospace, Automotive, Renewable Energy, and Micromobility. Our goal is to disruptively industrialize composites manufacturing using intelligent automation.
What is your new job?
The Junior Business Development Manager will work within the commercial team of Airborne to open up a new product line of Automation cells which industrialize the manufacturing of composite structures. Primarily you’ll be working within European markets, but also able to support new enquiries globally.
Your primary function is to prospect for new opportunities, introduce the capabilities of Airborne, and to nurture them through to RFI and RFQ. You will not only be aware of RFI/RFQs which your accounts have initiated but also work to convince potential customers of the value of automation, stimulating new RFQs. This requires a proactive hunter’s mentality to prospect and hunt for new business using your own initiative. We want you to grow within the company!
You’ll mainly work in the Aerospace market, however, due to growing interest from other markets you’ll also be engaging with other markets like drones, Formula 1, defense, and sporting goods.
Who are you?
You’re someone who can be comfortable at all stages of the sales process from prospecting and opening doors, to nurturing and closing. You’re familiar with the concept of ‘value-selling’. Our solutions replace manual methods so a business case must be built with our clients to get them across the line.
You should be from a technical or engineering background. Our solutions require some customization to meet final requirements, so you’re capable of interacting with engineers on their level to design and configure a competitive solution.
You like travelling to customers and building a network of contacts, and you are comfortable talking to production managers and operatives to find out the issues that really drive efficiency and can be turned into automation products.
Reporting Lines and Interactions
Reports to Head of Sales – Automation. Interaction with Management, other BDMs, project stakeholders, clients, internal relationships, suppliers, external partners
Job requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Materials Engineering or other relevant degree/qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical sales role.
- Willing to travel regularly to trade shows or customers (around 30% of the time).
- Previous experience in Aerospace, Automotive or other composites-relevant sectors is an advantage.
- Preferably located near our facility in The Hague, The Netherlands.
- Knowledge of German or another European language is an advantage.
- Curious, open, and collaborative.
